Walkable Living Makes Strides
For their November issue, Realtor Magazine brought together six industry experts to debate the effect of high gas prices on housing developments. The consensus is that "walkable living" areas [like Tullamore] are going to continue to grow in popularity. Christopher Leinberger, author of The Option of Urbanism, states, "If you drop one car out of your household, the American Automobile Association tells us you're saving $7,800 a year in after-tax dollars. If you translate that savings into a mortgage, you can increase your mortgage capacity by $150,000."
